A scenario why it might make sense to have a commit in a catch block...
In response to practic's question re: why a commit in a catch block, I can picture another scenario not demonstrated. For example, if there is a try block where a transaction is started for inserting data and the insert is setup correctly, but there is some other code in the try block that fails but does not affect the insert directly (something like sending out a confirmation with database mail that fails) and this other code causes the catch block to run. Like Pavel I am unable to find a ConnectionString option in DataTools.Ah - ok - you MUST NOT try and right-click the Connection Manager in the Solution Explorer window, this only works if you right-click the Connection Manager in the 'Connection Managers' window - on my screen currently it is in plain-sight under the Control Flow window (but I had not noticed it).
