Needs updating to cover SP1

If you have SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer Edition, you can't upgrade this to the MSDN download with SP1 included. You need to use the basic install and update it.Otherwise this'll mean setting up the new instance with users etc which is more work than just leaving the installs running overnight.

Please can a link or info be added on how the SQL Server collation and Analysis Services collation relate to each other, if at all. Some sites still require a SQL_ collation for backward compatibility which you can't select for the Analysis Services part of the install.

SQL Max Memory

Lonnie, I noticed the same thing. The max server memory is still at the OS limitation for Enterprise Edition per the 2014 features supported documentation http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc645993%28v=sql.120%29.aspx. I'm going to have to assume that when you enable the Buffer Pool Extension, you are then limited to only 128GB RAM? At least until someone updates this documentation with a clearer explanation.

Check for the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SharedAccess\Defaults key

Also double-check that the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SharedAccess\Defaults" key exists. If it doesn't, you can export the key from a known-working and clean PC and importing it into the affected PC.

Cross Subnet Failover

It is not clear in this latest version of comparison table that cross subnet failover clusters are only supported on SQL Server Enterprise Edition. In previous versions of this table this was clearly identified. When using host or array based replication solutions to build multi-site clusters you must use Enterprise Edition if the cluster nodes reside in different subnets.

CustomProperty for BarCharts

You have to set the CustomAttiribute for BarLabelStyle to something other than Centered. If you don't no matter, how much you change the settings under Label, your label will always stay centered.I finally found the answer to this question at http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/d90f6a96-134c-41b6-ae57-7be99d1665fe/bar-chart-labels

Hello OffCourse2013,I have a report with a multi-value parameter, named Bin. I use a query (report dataset) to get the available values for this parameter. When I pass multiple values to the parameter, the parameter field in the parameter pane is pre-populated with these values. I use the following syntax to pass the parameter values:<server_name>/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fProductInventory2&Bin=1&Bin=2&Bin=5Are you able to run your report successfully via Report B

The geography data type uses the "left handed" convention

$

It should be of interest to note that the geography data type uses the "left handed" convention, so that standard polygons should be defined counter-clockwise (cf. http://daniel.wertheim.se/2012/12/03/sqlgeography-in-sql-server-2012-polygon-must-start-on-correct-position-no/).Not knowing this may cause a lot of trouble when creating geographies from WKTs (cf. http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/72040/how-to-construct-geographies-from-wkts), or from other representations (ESRI Shapefiles seem

Make sure to open firewall ports for SSAS in a SP2013 multiserver environment

$

When installing SSAS in SharePoint Mode for SharePoint 2013 in a multi server environment, you DO have to open firewall ports for the SSAS server. This is opposite to what is written in "Firewall Port configuration for PowerPivot for SharePoint" in the linked article at step 23.Because in SP2013 the SSAS instance is outside the SharePoint farm, 'normal' connections are made via the SQL Browser to that server. So make sure to: 1) open port 2382 (TCP-in) for SQL Browser, 2) Assign a fixed port to th
