I would highly recommend against the best practise "Turn off the spanning tree algorithm".Spanning tree, and its various successors, all have configurations for edge ports, such as the "portfast" system. The diagrams on this page recommend redundancy by interconnecting ports, and without spanning tree, all you will see is a broadcast storm that shuts down the network.Spanning tree is a good thing. It only does anything if it's misconfigured, or if something is very wrong in your network. However
