The statement "The scope of a local variable is the batch in which it is declared" (in the remarks section) is incorrect. The scope of a variable begins at the lexical position of its declaration, and continues to the end of the batch which contains the declaration. It does not cover any part of the batch which is lexically earlier than the declaration.
