Yes, found that same as you did - cross-forest Enrollment is supported only on the Enterprise R2 edition. So my solution was disabling LDAP refferals (run certutil -setreg Policy\EditFlags-EDITF_ENABLELDAPREFERRALS )start certsvc, do upgrade to Enterprise Edition and proceed with the cross-forest deployment.
